Dr Cerys Knighton is a 29-year-old Welsh artist from Porthcawl.

Cerys has achieved a PhD in medical history and literature, researching the historical medical and cultural identity of bipolarity. Her research examined developments in diagnostic categories, forms and places of treatment, and perceptions of patients. The artwork drawn from this research seeks a space for reflection: looking at how medical categories and representations have evolved to reflect on current societal attitudes towards bipolarity.
